Booting Windows XP into Safe Mode PDF Print E-mail
Friday, 01 April 2005
For removing viruses and spyware, you will most likely find that you need to boot into Safe Mode. You can accomplish this by pressing F8 while booting, and choosing Safe Mode from a menu, however some find this difficult to do. The following instructions allow you to boot into safe mode without the need for "good timing" with the mouse...

1. Click: Start, Run
2. Type msconfig and press enter
3. Select the BOOT.INI tab
4. Check the /SAFEBOOT check-box, if you want network support as well, check the NETWORK radial
5. Click Apply & OK

The computer will now boot into safe mode. When done, follow these same steps and uncheck /SAFEBOOT
